We’ll consider buying used furniture when it’s commercial-grade, desirable, and in quantity.

Do You Buy Used Office Furniture in Kansas City?

Sometimes — but only when it’s commercial-grade, desirable, and worth moving. If it’s the kind of furniture people actually want (and it’s in good shape), we’ll consider purchasing it. If not, we can usually recommend the best next path: resale/liquidation, donation, or removal.

When We’ll Consider Purchasing Used Furniture

We typically consider purchasing used inventory when it’s:

  • Commercial-grade (not import-grade / not residential)
  • A desirable product or recognizable brand
  • In good condition
  • Newer (often 8 years old or newer for systems/workstations)\
  • A decent quantity (enough to make logistics and resale viable)

Examples of desirable products

Examples of commonly desirable inventory include higher-end ergonomic seating and well-known commercial systems. For chairs, examples include Humanscale Freedom, Steelcase Leap, and Herman Miller Aeron—assuming condition and quantities make sense.

Typical minimum quantities we look for

  • Task chairs: typically 25+
  • Cubicles/workstations: typically 50+

When We Typically Won’t Purchase Used Inventory

We usually won’t purchase used inventory if it’s:

  • very old
  • import-grade or residential-grade
  • in rough condition / heavily worn
  • missing key parts/components (especially in systems furniture)
  • mismatched in a way that makes reuse/resale unrealistic

If We Don’t Buy It: The Next Best Options

If purchase doesn’t make sense, we’ll recommend the best alternative based on the size and condition of the inventory:

Resell or liquidate through partners

If it’s a large enough lot, we may help you resell or liquidate through our nationwide partner network.

Donate to non-profits

If it’s usable but not resale-friendly, we can recommend non-profits that accept donations.

Removal + disposal + recycling estimate

If it’s not suitable for resale or donation, we can provide a labor estimate for removal and disposal, recycling as much as possible.
